FRIDAY’S BOYS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Oxford rolls over neighboring Brandon; Inter-City Baptist upset Oakland Christian
ORTONVILLE — Oxford used a 17-4 second-quarter run to create a little breathing room, then dusted away neighboring Ortonville Brandon, 61-38, in a non-league boys basketball tilt Friday.
The Wildcats led 20-13 after the first quarter and 37-17 at the half. In the third quarter, Oxford used a 16-13 edge to fuel a 53-30 advantage heading into the fourth quarter.
Jacques Toussaint scored 22 to lead three Wildcats in double figures. Mark Hazelwood added 12 and Michael Kitchner chipped in with 10 points, while Zach Raisch scored eight for Oxford (5-3).
Cody Feltner scored 11 and Josh Lambert followed with eight points for Brando (3-5).
ALLEN PARK INTER CITY BAPTIST 53, AUBURN HILLS OAKLAND CHRISTIAN 51 (OT): Inter-City Baptist handed Oakland Christian its second MIAC Blue Division loss of the week with this overtime win Friday in Allen Park.
Evan Kraatz scored 22 and Nathaniel Packwood chipped in with 15 for ICB (5-1, 2-1), which converted eight three-pointers in the contest. The Chargers outscored Oakland 6-4 in the extra session.
Josh Peterson scored 15 for Oakland Christian (5-2, 1-2). DJ Stevens followed with nine points, while John VanNoord and Charles Hayden scored eight apiece for the Lancers, which made only 8-of-16 free throws.
It marked the second straight loss where Oakland Christian shot under 60 percent from the foul line.
Inter-City Baptist led 25-19 at the break, going on a 10-1 second quarter run. Oakland Christian returned the favor with a 28-22 second-half to forge overtime.

Northwest led 39-33 at the half, then blew the game open thanks to a 22-9 third quarter, which created a 61-42 advantage heading into the fourth quarter.
Nathan Drews led Northwest with 22 points, canning six 3-pointers along the way. Josh Morrison followed with 20 points and Ian Wellhousen chipped in with eight points for the Crusaders (5-2, 2-1).
Steve Calen scored 18 and Jeff Kocik scored nine for Parkway (1-5, 0-3).
CLARKSTON EVEREST COLLEGIATE 55, DETROIT CRISTO REY 39: The Mountaineers slowly built a 26-14 lead by the break and cruised to this CHSL victory.
Richie Cross led a balanced attack with 12 points. Don Allen added 11 points and Ben Marcial and Blake Beauchamp followed with eight points each for the Mountaineers, who held a 29-25 edge in the second half.
Eric Carter scored 15 and Daron Hill added 14 points for Cristo Rey.

The Bronchos started with a 17-7 run and led 23-20 at the half. Holy outscored the Panthers 24-20 in the second half.
Austin Hopkin scored 14 and Nic Stoll chipped in with 10 points for the Bronchos (6-1, 6-1).
Mike Turczyn scored 11 and Jeff Price added nine points for Lapeer West.
