CLARKSTON — Clarkston fended off Oxford to grab first place in the OAA boys bowling race heading into the league championships.

Clarkston’s boys rolled to a 28-2 triumph over the Wildcats at Cherry Hill Lanes, while Clarkston’s girls posted a 19-11 triumph between teams tied in second in the OAA-Red.

Oxford’s Brandon Hurlburt was the lone bright spot for Oxford (4-1, 4-1), firing strikes on the first eight frames in Game 2 to roll up a match-high 278.

Oxford’s girls won both Baker games for a 10-0 lead, only to see the Wolves rally.

In match play, the only Oxford bowler to win was Alex Logan with a 177 game.

“This was a real disappointment today,” said Oxford coach JR Lafnear. “The kids had a good week of practice and we really didn’t see this coming. We were off our game today and Clarkston bowled very well. I think this will motivate us for next week and for regionals.”
