GIRLS SOCCER: Troy blanks Royal Oak district crown

| June 3, 2012 | Comments (0)

TROY — Behind a goal and each half and some stingy defense, Troy put the finishing touches on its third straight girls soccer district Saturday.

The Colts stymied Royal Oak, 2-0, which capped a week which the state-ranked Colts outscored their three opponents by a 6-1 margin.

Troy will play New Baltimore Anchor Bay Tuesday at Fraser in the Division 1 regional semifinals. Game time is set for 5 p.m.

Madison Hirsch put Troy (16-2-3) on the board midway through the first half, depositing a fee from Irene Young into the back of the net.

Shortly after halftime, Jenna Cabelhof capped the scoring following a pass from Sarah Troccoli.

Alison Holland recorded her 15th shutout of the season and second straight in postseason, collecting four saves.

Carrie Smith made seven saves for Royal Oak, which ended the season as the OAA white Division co-champs.
