GIRLS SOCCER: Notre Dame Prep edges Gabriel Richard, advances to regional finals
BEVERLY HILLS — Taylor Timko notched the game winner in the second half, and that proved to be the game-winner in Pontiac Notre Dame Prep’s 2-1 victory over Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard in a Division 3 girls soccer regional semifinal at Birmingham Detroit Country Day.
Timko scored in the 52nd minute off a free kick and the fight Irish defense made it stand down the stretch.
Lindsey Klei staked NDP to a 1-0 lead in the first half off a cross by Leah McGrail, only to see Gabriel Richard knot the score with a goal by Mary Yocum.
Alex Arnoldy made 11 saves for Notre Dame Prep, which split with Gabriel Richard during the regular season.
Notre Dame Prep, which improved to 13-3-5, will face Grosse Ile for a regional championship Friday at 6 p.m., also at Country Day.
