FOOTBALL: Our Lady of the Lakes sacks revenge on Villa Angela
CLEVELAND — It was a year ago when Cleveland Villa Angela St. Joesph clobbered Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes 41-14 in a prep football season opener.
Fast forward to Saturday and the Lakers gained their sweet revenge.
WOLL recorded a lopsided 42-6 win over the host Eagles at Euclid (Ohio) High School.
The Lakers scored 21 points in the first quarter and added a pair of scores in the second quarter for a 35-0 halftime lead. WOLL outscored the hosts 7-6 in the second half.
Mitch Lasceski scored a pair of touchdowns in the first quarter to break the contest wide open. Lasceski scored on a runs of 15 and 2 yards, Lucas Neme hauled in a 33-yard strike from Sam Mastermatteo, Richie Cross added a 40-yard punt return for a score, Jake Doetsch had a 4-yard scoring run, and Zack Zednick scored on an 8-yard pass from backup quarterback Dillon Sabo.
Spencer Howell was 6-or-6 on extra points.
Defensively, the Lakers (1-0) forced seven turnovers on the afternoon and recorded seven sacks, rarely allowing St. Villa much breathing room.
