COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL: Crump gains 200th career win in sweep of UM-Dearborn
DEARBORN —Rochester College’s women’s volleyball team found another level Saturday at the University of Michigan-Dearborn and that resulted in a 3-0 sweep of the Wolves.
The win, which featured sets of 25-23, 25-11 and 25-21, snapped a seven-game losing streak against UM Dearborn
As a team, the Warriors had 28 kills, 66 digs and six blocks. The Warriors were led by senior Niki McKerracher, who had eight kills and .400 hitting percentage. Junior Sara Hayes added 23 assists, three aces and 14 digs on the night.
Head coach Dave Crump was pleased with his teams’ play, as they helped him to his 200th career victory at Rochester College, the most in the program’s history.
“It was a great win tonight,” said Crump. “We have struggled in the past against the Wolves, but we were able to take care of business in three straight sets. We started a little slow in the first set and went back and forth but we were able to finish the set, something we didn’t do early in the season. In the second set, we got a quick start and didn’t look back. The Wolves fought back in the third, but we were not going to be denied. I’m glad to get the win, but we are now focusing on the four matches we have later this week.”
