MONDAY’S GIRLS LACROSSE: Rochester edges Stoney Creek; Athens downs Adams; Bloomfield Hills tips Troy
ROCHESTER HILLS — Rochester had to find a way to solve Kendra Gill. Much like the lengthy challenge of finishing off a Rubix Cube, the Falcons did just that late Monday.
Rochester scored three times in the final 10 minutes to rally for a thrilling, 7-6, win over Stoney Creek in OAA girls lacrosse play.
Olivia Lord netted the game winner with 6:02 remaining for Rochester (1-2-0).
Stoney Creek had tied the contest at 6-6 with 6:30 remaining left before succumbing in the end.
Rochester sophomore Jessica Leininger scored her 13th goal of the season to tie the game at 5-5.
Gill finished with 20 saves for Stoney Creek, which dropped to 1-2-0 overall.
TROY ATHENS 12, TROY ATHENS 6: Athens was led by Jill Daugherty with three goals, while Angelica Fernandez, Morgan Bommarito and Shelby Halpin each chipped in with two goals apiece to lead Athens. Jena Peterson added a goal and two assists and Alivia Baker stopped 8of 14 shots in goal for the Red Hawks (1-1-0).
Adams (1-3-0) was led by Ciera Curtis and Maddie Walsh with four goals and two goals, respectively.
BLOOMFIELD HILLS UNIFIED 13, TROY 11: Margaret Metzger finished with seven goals and an assist and Bloomfield Hills upended Troy by two goals in this OAA Red Division contest.
Elena Miller and Maria D’Angelo added two goals each, while Maddie Monahan and and Jessica Koolwick also scored for Unified.
