GIRLS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Clarkston thumps Pontiac; Troy trumps Lake Orion
CLARKSTON — Host Clarkston held Pontiac to less than four points a quarter and to single digits overall in a 453-8 OAA red Division triumph Thursday night.
The Wolves (11-2, 6-1) led 20-0 at the end of the first quarter and 30-1 at the half. Clarkston continued to pour it on in the second half, when they outscored the Phoenix 13-7 playing mostly reserves.
Alaina Cook scored 10 and Kacy Robinson added nine for Clarkston (11-2, 6-1).
Infinnatti Rowe scored four for Pontiac (1-10, 0-7).
TROY 36, LAKE ORION 29: Troy built a 20-7 halftime lead and held on for the seven-point win Thursday in OAA White Division play. Rachael Zelmanski and Rachel Grecky both scored 10 for Troy, while Sydney Heath added six points and 10 rebounds. Evelyn Wishmeyer scored 10 for Lake Orion, which closed the gap with a 22-16 half.
ROCHESTER 41, FARMINGTON 37: Rochester proved to the better of the two Falcons Thursday with this OAA White Division road win. Alexa Haupt scored 11, Ivy Schultz added nine points and Maddie Williams scored eight for Rochester (5-9, 3-6). Amani Echols finished with 10 points and Mya Douse scored nine for Farmington.
MADISON HEIGHTS BISHOP FOLEY 43, WATERFORD OUR LADY OF THE LAKES 36: Renee Fischer scored 12 and Kristin Doxen added 10 points for Bishop Foley in the CHSL win. Olivia Bennett scored 17 for Lakes (6-9, 4-5).
OXFORD 64, BIRMINGHAM GROVES 30: Oxford built a 36-13 lead by the half Thursday and had little problem dispatching Groves in this OAA White Division tilt. Jessica Murphy scored a game-high 28 points to pace Oxford (9-5, 4-5), while Skye Donaldson added eight points for the Wildcats, who outscored the Falcons 28-18 in the second half.
