BOYS BASKETBALL: Holly bounces Brandon; Lakes, Stoney Creek, Oxford all roll to wins

HOLLY — A lopsided first quarter gave Holly plenty of breathing room and the Bronchos kept pace in the Flint Metro League boys basketball race Friday with a 76-45 triumph over visiting rival Ortonville Brandon.

Holly had to defeat Brandon in overtime three weeks earlier.

Jake Daniels scored 18 points and Kyle Woodruff followed with 16 points on the strength of four 3-pointers to lead Holly, which led 245-5 at the end of the first quarter and 52-22 at the half.  The Bronchos outscored Brandon 24-23 in the second half.

Logan Spiker finished with nine points and nine rebounds and Parker Rowse chipped in seven points for Holly.

Nick Keller scored 14 for Brandon.

WATERFORD OUR LADY OF THE LAKES 66, MARINE CITY CARDINAL MOONEY 20: A 45-14 lead the half was more than enough to propel Lakes to this CHSL-Intersectional Division win Friday. Adam Kline scored 16, Andrew Kline added 12 and Vinnie Puma scored 10 for WOLL, which outscored Mooney 21-6 over the final two quarters.

ROCHESTER STONEY CREEK 68, HAZEL PARK 63: Charlie Carson nailed four of his team’s nine 3-pointers on the night and lifted Stoney Creek to this OAA Blue Divisoin victory on the heels of a game-high 23 points. Patrick Mertz and Eric Gilganbach added 12 points each and Jon Paul Sinacola scored nine for the Cougars, who led 43-25 at the half. Qinten Pearson and Samja Thompson scored 16 apiece for Hazel Park.

OXFORD 57, FARMINGTON HILLS HARRISON 38: Oxford finally moved to the five-hundred mark at 6-6 and above that mark at 4-2 in OAA blue Division play with this 19-point win Friday. Connor Elzerman scored 19, sinking five 3-pointers, while Alex Hesse scored 16 and Jamal Thomas 11 points for the Wildcats. Calvin Butler scored nine for Harrison.

WEST BLOOMFIELD 77, AUBURN HILLS AVONDALE 69: Trishton Jackson led four Lakers in double figures with 35 points in this OAA White Division win Friday. Anton Lucaj scored 15, Mitchell Bailey added 14 points and Zach Allread chipped in with 10 points for West Bloomfield. Jabbar Mims scored 29 and Zarrick Sturgis added 18 points for Avondale.
