THURSDAY’S GIRLS VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP: Notre Dame Prep sweeps Gabriel Richard; Linden outlasts Holly
PONTIAC — Pontiac Notre Dame Prep remained perfect on the season in CHSL-AA Division girls volleyball play Thursday with a 3-0 sweep of Riverview Gabriel Richard.
The Fighting Irish posted wins of 25-15, 25-14 and 25-12 to wear the Pioneers down and move to 19-3-1 overall.
The Irish were led by Katherine Carlson’s 19-for-20 attacking performance which included nine kills. Junior Dani McCormick added eight kills in 18 attempts with only two errors and Ashley Knutson chipped in with 16 assists.
The Irish return to action on Saturday as they travel to the St. Clair Shores Lakeview Tournament.
LINDEN 25-25-16-25, HOLLY 23-23-25-20: Linden outlasted Holly in four games Thursday in Flint Metro League play.
Megan Piwowarski collected seven kills and 12 blocks to lead Holly. Kate Nitowski had 16 serve receives, Adrienne Cheff added 25 assists, Abby Lewandowski blasted 12 kills and both Nicki Hiltner and Grace Vivanco contributed 11 digs each for the Bronchos.
