ON THE MOVE: Troy's Kristin Soreide was the highest ranking player from the www.northoaklandsprots.com coverage area for 2011, making the Division 1 All-State Second Team.

Much in a similar fashion to boys lacrosse, girls lacrosse teams have been added in droves across the state in the past decade. Even in Oakland County, the numbers have tripled since 2000 and more schools hope to add it in the near future.

On the girls lacrosse All-State lists, recently released by the Michigan Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association, there is a high number of honorees that hail from the www.northoaklandsprots.com coverage area this season, as eight players garnered such a high honor. This is one of the highest totals to date.

In Division 1, Troy’s Kristin Soreide made the second team cut. On the honorable mention list in D-1 were Troy’s Jessica Benton, Haley Burns and Kathy Maher-Edgin.

Clarkston’s Kylie Cohu, Stephanie Dellinger, Danielle Dunn and Lauren Sharkey also made the honorable mention chart after leading the Wolves to their first league title in the OAA White Division.
