SCHOOL: Auburn Hills Avondale

HEAD COACH: Michael Kopec, fifth season.

LAST SEASON’S RECORD: 2-9-1, 0-6-0 OAA White Division.

LEAGUE FINISH: Seventh at league meet (9 points); seventh in final league standings.

REGIONAL FINISH: Not available.

STATE FINISH: Did not qualify.

NOTABLES: After struggling in the OAA White Division last season, Avondale drops back down to the OAA blue Division and should be among the leaders in that division.

SCHOOL: Clarkston

HEAD COACH: Chaz Claus.

LAST SEASON’S RECORD: 6-5-0, 3-3-0 OAA White Division.

LEAGUE FINISH: Third at OAA-White league meet (36 points); tied for third overall.

REGIONAL FINISH: Fourth at D-1 Novi regional (15 points).

STATE FINISH: Did not qualify.

PROJECTED SINGLES LINEUP: Andy Heuerman, sr. (No. 1); J.P. Budzinski, sr. (No. 2); Jordan Kincaid, sr. (No. 3); Brendan Greenlee, fr. (No. 4).

PROJECTED DOUBLES LINEUP: Patrick Bemis, sr.-Eric Kurowski, sr. (No. 1);

Zach Finn, sr.-Troy Hughes, sr. (No. 2); Johnny Whall, soph.-Joey Whall, soph. (No. 3);

NOTABLES: The Wolves had a quality season in 2010, finishing third in the OAA-White and fourth in a deep regional at Novi. With a senior-laden team, Clarkston should expect to post a similar or better finish this season.

SCHOOL: Holly

HEAD COACH: Will Sophiea.

LAST SEASON’S RECORD: 6-0-1, 6-0-1 Flint Metro League.

LEAGUE FINISH: First at FML league meet.

REGIONAL FINISH: First at D-2 Holly regional (24 points).

STATE FINISH: 17th at D-2 state finals (three points).

OTHER FINISHES: Third Ann Arbor Pioneer Invite, fourth at Okemos Invite, third at Petoskey Quad, sixth Holly-Grand Blanc Invite.

PROJECTED SINGLES LINEUP: Jeff Sophiea, soph. (No. 1; league runner-up at No. 1); Sam Caldwell, sr. (No. 2; league champ at No. 2 last season); Connor Bilkos, jr. (No. 3; league runner-up at No. 3 last season); Parker Rowse, fr. (No. 4).

PROJECTED DOUBLES LINEUP: Taylor Mills, soph.-Zac Goodrich, soph. (No. 1; Mills was a league and regional champ at No. 3 doubles, while Goodrich was a league and regional champ at No.1 doubles); Craig Richards, soph.-Dillon Sink, fr.(Richards was a league champ at No. 2 doubles last season); Parker Cuthbert, soph.-Connor Knudson, sr. (No. 3; Cuthbert was a league and regional champ at No. 4 doubles last year); Morgan Baylis, fr.-Will Moller (No. 4).

KEY LOSSES: Erik Kahn (league and Regional Champion at 1 doubles, four-year varsity player, three regional titles and three league titles); Ricky Slemons (league and regional Champion at No. 3 doubles; two-year varsity player; two-time regional and 2 league champ).

NOTABLES: Holly is seeking its 19th straight FML title and is again among the favorites. The Bronchos always benefit in the state tournament, not having to travel south into the state’s most rugged regionals but play in regionals from teams from the Flint-Saginaw areas. Holly is normally a state qualifier in Division 2; the FML will stick to four doubles flights, unlike the OAA which will play league and non-league matches with five doubles flights.

SCHOOL: Lake Orion

HEAD COACH: Eric Bracciano

LAST SEASON’S RECORD: 4-7-0, 1-5 OAA White Division (sixth place overall).

NOTABLES: The Dragons have kept 16 players in the varsity ranks to help groom them for more success. Often a middle-of-the-pack team that bounces back and forth between the White and the Blue Division of the OAA, Lake Orion hopes a team with seven seniors, five juniors and four sophomores can combine to climb up the league standings this season.

KEY LOSSES: Albert Lee, James Berta.

NOTABLES: Rochester fielded a young team last season, which resulted in a middle0of-the-pack finish at most tournaments, including the league and regional. With experience at several flights, a slight improvement should be expected.

SCHOOL: Rochester Adams

HEAD COACH: Al Must, 25th season.

LAST SEASON’S RECORD: 12-1-0, 6-1-0 OAA Red Division.

SCHOOL: Rochester Stoney Creek

HEAD COACH: Heather Redshaw.

LAST SEASON’S RECORD: 6-0-0 OAA White Division.

LEAGUE FINISH: Won the OAA White Division league meet (54 points).

REGIONAL FINISH: Fourth at D-1 Rochester regional (11 points).

STATE FINISH: Did not qualify.

PROJECTED SINGLES LINEUP:

PROJECTED DOUBLES LINEUP:

NOTABLES:

SCHOOL: Troy

HEAD COACH: Eric Sturgis, sixth season (non-consecutive).

LAST SEASON’S RECORD: 7-3-2, 3-3-2 OAA Red Division.

LEAGUE FINISH: Third at league meet (45 points); finished third in final league standings.

REGIONAL FINISH: Second at D-1 Rochester regional (24 points).

STATE FINISH: Tied for fifth at D-1 finals (17 points).

PROJECTED SINGLES LINEUP: Noah Rice, sr. (No. 1); Sanjay Devineddy, sr. (No. 2); Saumil Shah, jr. (No. 3); Vinai Reddy, soph. (No. 4).

NOTABLES: Troy suffered a hug blow when last year’s No. 1 singles state champion, Brett Forman, suffered a back injury during the club circuit over the summer and is on the diabled list for up to sixth months. That means the colts lose points in every match and have to bump up players throughout the lineup to compensate. Still, this team should challenge West Bloomfield and Bloomfield Hills Andover for top honors in the OAA Red Division with a deep and talented team.

SCHOOL: Troy Athens

HEAD COACH: Eric Shipp, seventh season.

LAST SEASON’S RECORD: 0-7 OAA Red Division (eighth place).

LEAGUE FINISH: Eighth at OAA Red division league meet (20 points).

REGIONAL FINISH: Fifth at the D-1 Rochester regional (nine points).

STATE FINISH: Did not qualify.

PROJECTED SINGLES LINEUP: Richard Zhang, soph.(No. 1); Eric Flewelling, jr. (No. 2); Jason Potter, fr. (No. 3); Sheevan Naik, jr. (No. 4).

PROJECTED DOUBLES LINEUP: Mehal Gauer, sr.-Kevin Zywicki, sr.(No. 1); Brian Lee, sr.-Stan Smith, sr.(No. 2); Andrew Yan, sr.-Phillip Ma, jr. (No. 3); Grant Loukmas, sr.-Aditiya Yelemanchi, soph.(No. 4); Sameer Desai, sr.-James Jia, jr. (No. 5).

NOTABLES: Athens drops down to the OAA White Division, where the Red Hawks will challenge Rochester Stoney Creek, Bloomfield Hills Lahser and Clarkston for top honors this season. Athens is also in a different regional, which could bode well for a legitimate chance at a state finals berth. This is a senior-heavy team, as seven doubles players are in the 12th grade.
