North Baltimore rallies against Christian Leadership
NORTH BALTIMORE, Ohio — Troy Christian Leadership Academy put a huge scare into North Baltimore Friday night.
The scare lasted for only a half.
After the visiting Defenders built a 14-6 lead on the Tigers, Leadership could not hold on to the advantage. North Baltimore, located south of Bowling Green, Ohio, outscored the Defenders 38-8 in the second-half and eventually prevailed with a 44-22 non-conference victory.
The Tigers amassed 32 points in the third quarter.

North Baltimore’s Dalton Ishmael, who sat most of the first half with an injury, returned after intermission and finished the night with 184 yards on 21 carries and scored on runs of 4, 5, 28 and 60 yards for the Tigers. He also ran in four, two-point conversions.
Ishmeal’s 4-yard plunge and ensuing two-point conversion with 9:40 to play in the third quarter knotted the game at 14-14 and helped open the floodgates for the Tigers. Ishmael later scored on a 5-yard scamper and Johnathon Long added a 14-yard sprint for another score in the third quarter, as the tides quickly swelled to a 29-14 advantage.
Later in the third, Christian Leadership’s Joe Schuster answered the bell with a 60-yard kickoff return to close the gap to 29-21. That was as close as the Defenders would the rest of the night.
Ishmeal added his two long scoring runs, one in the third quarter and another in the fourth period, to help the Tigers pull away for good.
Long finished the night with 141 yards on 19 carries for North Baltimore.
Christian Leadership, only in its fourth season with a football program, scored first when Dwayne Swiggins scooped up a fumble and returned it 90 yards for paydirt. Cortez Swaine followed with a 16-yard TD run to put the Defenders up, 14-0.
The Tigers (2-1) scored with just 12 seconds left in the half when Brandon Solly hauled in a 38-yard touchdown pass from Jordan Watson — the Tigers’ only pass completion of the night.
