PONTIAC — After opening the 2010 season with five straight losses, Pontiac Notre Dame Prep is redefining the term turning the tables.

The Fighting Irish captured their ninth straight win Friday at home, throttling Madison Heights Bishop Foley, 45-6, in a CHSL crossover football game.

Notre Dame Prep, which closed last season with four straight wins, have opened the 2011 campaign with five straight victories to add to their streak, one of the best in school history.

The Irish wasted little time against Bishop Foley (2-3), scoring four times in the first quarter and two more times in the second quarter for a 42-0 halftime advantage. NDP added a four-quarter field goal while allowing the Ventures to score a third quarter touchdown.

Rouairy McGreevy kicked six extra points and added a 32-yard field goal for good measure as part of the Irish’s balanced attack. Jacob Romeo and Shane Franks scored two touchdowns apiece for NDP.

Romeo scored on a 13-yard run and collected a 20-yard scoring toss from Dan Durkin, while Franks scored on a 70-yard sprint and a 3-yard plunge.

Pat Bartoli added a 26-yard run for the other touchdown for Notre Dame Prep and Troy Sassack had the first score on a 30-yard interception return.

Nathaniel Grys scored on a 1-yard run for Bishop Foley.

It’s Ruairi, not Rouairy, LOL. R-U-A-I-R-I pronounced Rory. His best memory at the parent night soccer game was “All the different ways my name is pronounced at away games in every sport!”
I suppose it is our fault for spelling it the Gaelic way, but his name sticks with everyone. Pay attention because you may be hearing a lot about this 5 sport varsity letter winner! He may just be one of the best kickers out there and its only his first year kicking! Many will want him if West Point does not take him!
