FRIDAY’S GIRLS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Holly cruises past Linden; Troy edges West Bloomfield

HOLLY — behind four players scoring between eight and 11 points, Holly upended visiting Linden 40-31 Friday in a Flint Metro League girls basketball game.

Allyssa Copley scored 11 for the Bronchoes, while Jessica Beeler added 10 points and both Lauren Maher and Delaney Sera scored eight for Holly (5-1, 3-1).

The Bronchos led 20-15 at the half and outscored Linden 20-16 in the second half to pull away.

Jordan Sargent scored 11 and Maija Sapkowiak added seven points for the Eagles (2-3, 2-1).

TROY 57, WEST BLOOMFIELD 55: Troy rallied back from a 50-46 deficit through three quarters of play with a 16-5 fourth-quarter run to post this OAA Red Division win over the Lakers.

Troy, which led 32-31 at the half, picked up 13 points from Karin Moss in the win. Katy McCuish and Rachael Zelmanski added 11 points each, Sabria Cotton scored 10 and Sydney Heath supplied nine points for the Colts (4-1, 3-1), who shot only 9-of-20 from the charity stripe.

Sydney Davis scored 15 to lead West Bloomfield. Kheri Motley also scored 15 for the Lakers and Ashley Ziegler twined 13 points.

ROCHESTER HILLS CHRISTIAN 44, MIDLAND CALVARY BAPTIST 32: Freshman guard Jenna Porter had a career-best night with 18 points and 13 rebounds in leading the Eagles past the Kings in a non-conference contest in Midland.

Allise Dubay added 10 points and seven assists, while Ashley Parker and Kaylee Gajowiak added six points apiece for Rochester Hills Christian (5-2), which graduated eight players including four starters.

FARMINGTON 43, OXFORD 41: Farmington used a 13-8 fourth qurter to pull away from Oxford in this OAA White Division contest.
Aaron Howell scored 22 points and Tamera Anthony added seven points for the Falcons.

Oxford, which led 31-17 at the half and 33-30 through three quarters, was paced by 16 points from Shelby Davis. Miranda Murphy added 11 points for the Wildcats (1-5, 0-3).

LAKE ORION 37, ROCHESTER 28: Lake Orion held Rochester to only 11 points through three quarters of play and held on for the OAA White Division triumph over the visiting Falcons.

Marisa Secontine scored 14 and Laura Turnbull added 11 points for the Dragons (4-2, 2-0).Hannah Hamay added seven points for Lake Orion, which led 13-9 at the half and 26-11 through three quarters.

Rochester outscored Lake Orion 17-11 in the fourth quarter to bring the game down to single digits.

Zhana Randolph scored 13 for Rochester (1-3, 1-1).


ROCHESTER ADAMS 37, FARMINGTON HARRISON 29: Adams remained unbeaten in OAA White Division play with this home win over the Hawks.

Adams built a 23-13 lead by the half and limited Harrison to eight or fewer points in each quarter.

Lexi Lewandowski and Taylor Houghtlin both scored nine for Adams (4-1, 3-0).

Harrison is 0-4 overall and 0-2 in league play.

PONTIAC 38, ROCHESTER STONEY CREEK 36: Pontiac held Stoney Creek to only two fourth-quarter points and handed the Cougars their second straight league defeat in this defensive-minded OAA Red Division contest Friday in Rochester.

Breonna House had 10 points for Pontiac, which trailed 21-20 at the half and34-33 after three quarters. The Phoenix (2-1, 1-1) closed with a 5-2 run in the fourth quarter.

Lauren Bolhuis scored 12 and both Gaby Yurik and Natalie Voss scored eight apiece for the Cougars (4-2, 0-2).

PONTIAC NOTRE DAME PREP 38, UTICA EISENHOWER 24: The Fighting Irish held Eisenhower to only seven second-half points in the conference win.
Kyaya Bowman scored eight and both Sarah and Jessica Green added seven points apiece for Notre Dame Prep (2-1), which used a 17-4 third quarter run to pull ahead for good.

Jessica Young scored six for Eisenhower (1-3), which led 17-15 at the half.
