FRIDAY’S BOYS BASKETBALL: Adams edges Oak Park; Rochester pulls away from Troy Athens

ROCHESTER HILLS — Rochester Adams overcame an early eight-point deficit and used a 31-2 second half for a 49-46 OAA White Division boys basketball triumph over Oak Park.

Zack Litleson led three Highlanders in double figures with 17 points. Drew McBride added 10 points, Akhemji Williams seven points and Matt Sokol had six points for Adams (10-6, 5-2), which is one game behind league co-leaders Troy and Ferndale.

Stephon Williams scored 18 for Oak Park (6-10, 2-5).

Down 11-3 at the end of the first quarter, Adams went on a 15-13 run in the second quarter to close the deficit down to 24-18 at the half. The Highlanders used a 18-11 surge in the third quarter for a 36-35 lead, then closed with a 13-11 edge in the fourth quarter.

ROCHESTER 72, TROY ATHENS 51: Rochester won for the 16th straight time and came one win away from a second straight OAA Blue Division title with this victory over the visiting Red Hawks Friday.

Rochester opened with a 16-9 run and never looked back. The Falcons blew the door open with a 23-5 run in the second quarter for a 39-14 lead at the half.

Taylor Perry scored a game-high 31 points and Paris Pereira hit a trio of three-pointers for 19 points for Rochester (16-1, 7-0), which has won 16 straight games.

Rochester sent 10 of 12 players into the scoring column.

Freshman Tim Shayoka scored 16 and Caleb McIntosh added 13 points for Athens (12-5, 3-4), which outscored Rochester 37-3 in the second half.

HOLLY 60, LAPEER WEST 53:
Three players reached double figures Friday and  Holy bounced back from a three-game losing streak to topple the visiting Panthers Friday.

Nic Stoll scored 19, Isaac Casillas added 14 points and Jared Plawski chipped in with 12 points for the Bronchos (12-5, 11-4).

Cullen Turzeyn nailed four 3-pointers and scored 19 and Mike Knickerboxer added 12 points for Lapeer West.

Holly led 21-10 at the half and 30-23 entering the fourth quarter.
OXFORD 69, HAZEL PARK 41: Oxford remained in a first-place tie in the OAA Gold Division with this 28-point rout Friday.

Mark Hazelwood scored 21 points to lead the Wildcats. Mike Kitchner added 13 points and Connor Elzeman also reached double figures with 10 points for Oxford (12-4, 6-1).

Oxford, which led 41-23 at the half, drained eight 3-pointers in the contest, made 11-of-19 free throws and sent 11 players into the scoring column.

Deonte Bynum scored 11 for Hazel Park (5-11, 0-7).

BERKLEY 74, AUBURN HILLS AVONDALE 71: Damon Eldridge scored 18, Daniel Waldhorn added 16 points, Alec Roy finished with 14 points and Johnathan Radner followed with 10 points in helping Berkley to the OAA White Division win.

The Bears (3-14, 1-7) sank 22-of-25 free throws in the three-point win.

Erik Stubbs scored 17, Jabbar Mims added 12 points and Deonte Randolph had 10 points for Avondale (4-12, 1-7).
