GIRLS SOCCER: Troy blanks Berkley; Groves edges Oxford

BERKLEY — Troy scored a first-half goal and tacked on two more in the second half to down Berkley 3-0 Friday in an OAA crossover girls soccer match.

Madison Hirsch scored the first two goals and Irene young added the other to pace the Colts (13-2-3). Hirsch also drew an assist and both Sarah Troccolli and Jenn Busk also has assists for Troy. Alison Holland made three saves for her 12th shutout of the season and 30th in two years.

Julie Shield made seven saves for Berkley.

BIRMINGHAM GROVES 1, OXFORD 0: Groves scored the game’s only goal in the 67uth minute off the foot of Julia Smith to lead the Falcons to the OAA crossover victory. The game-winner came on a shot from 20 yards out.

Darien Bandel made seven saves in a losing effort for Oxford (7-13-1), upping her total to 141 saves for the season.
