GIRLS BASKETBALL: Clarkston rallies past Lathrup to earn OAA-Red title
CLARKSTON — Behind a 15-10 fourth-quarter run, Clarkston was able to pull away for a 50-43 triumph over visiting Southfield Lathrup in a OAA Red Division girls basketball team between the league’s top two teams.
The win gave Clarkston the league title for the second straight season.
Lathrup took an 8-7 lead after the first quarter and used a 16-123 run to build a 24-19 advantage at the half.
Clarkston mounted a comeback in the third quarter, as the Wolves went on a 16-9 run for a 35-33 lead with eight minutes to play.
Erika davenport led Clarkston with 20 points. Erin Davenport added 11 points, Delaney Kenny followed with eight points and Patrice Matthews chipped in with seven points for the seventh-ranked Wolves (17-1, 11-0).
Sydni Davis scored 18 to lead Lathrup. Christina Green added 11 points and Sabria Cotton followed with seven points for the Chargers (14-3, 10-2).
Clarkston won the first meeting last month 37-35.
