MONDAY’S GIRLS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Lake Orion upsets Troy; Athens edges Rochester
LAKE ORION — Behind a 23-21 first half, Lake Orion was able to create enough distance from Troy to post a 48-46 OAA crossover victory over the Colts.
Nicole Krier led Lake Orion with a ga me-high 15 points. Hanah Hamay scored 12, Melanie Heath added nine points and Marisa Secontine scored eight for the Dragons (12-5).
Karin Moss scored 13 and Jennifer Stencel added 10 points for Troy (9-8).
Both teams scored six points in the third quarter and were dead even with 19 points apiece in the final frame.
TROY ATHENS 53, ROCHESTER 43: Athens won for the second straight time for the first time this season Monday in this OAA White Division triumph.
Sinclair Russell scored 10 for Athens (3-14), which led 28-018 at the half and held onto the 10-point lead in the second half. Mary Grace Stark chipped in with nine points.
Zhana Randolph scored 14 to lead Rochester. Aubrey Konal added 10 points and Anne Tucker scoffed nine for the Falcons (5-12), which succumbed to a 17-7 run in the second quarter.
