ELMHURST. Ill. – Senior Amanda Pettey was named The Summit League Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday. It is the first time that Pettey has won the award and she becomes the fifth player in OU history to receive the honor.

Pettey made her Senior Day a good one by winning at both singles and doubles in the final regular season match against Valparaiso. She cruised to an 8-0 victory in her doubles match on Saturday before winning in straight sets 7-5, 6-1 in singles. Fittingly for the senior, she was the last player off the court surrounded by her cheering teammates.

On Friday, Pettey was able to pick up the only win for OU in the team’s loss to Milwaukee. Along with her partner, freshman Grace Keating, Pettey rallied from 5-0 down to force a tiebreaker. The Oakland duo won the tiebreaker 7-5 and claimed an 8-7 win.

This season Pettey has been a top contributor for the Golden Grizzlies, amassing a 6-3 record at the No. 6 singles position. She went 3-1 in Summit League singles play for a team-best .750 winning percentage.

Oakland is currently awaiting the results of this weekend’s Summit League tennis cluster to find out if the team will qualify for The Summit League Tournament.
