MONDAY’S SOCCER ROUNDUP: Oxford escapes Seaholm

OXFORD — Oxford wrapped up OAA White Division girls soccer play Tuesday with a 3-2 victory, downing visiting Birmingham Seaholm, 3-2.

The Wildcats (8-5-3, 7-1-3) trail only Bloomfield Hills Andover and West Bloomfield in the final standings.

Breanna Johnson finished with two goals and Beth Downs also scored for Oxford, which lost starting goalkeeper Sarah Stroope to a broken collar bone.

Taylor Heeley came on in relief and made five saves to gain share the win with Stroope.

ROCHESTER STONEY CREEK 3, BIRMINGHAM GROVES 0: Maddie Lucci had two goals and an assist Tuesday in leading the visiting Cougars to this OAA crossover win. Joanie Sieja had a goal and an assist for Stoney Creek (10-6-0).

AUBURN HILLS AVONDALE 1, ROYAL OAK: Avondale clinched fourth place out of 11 schools in the OAA Red Division with this road win Tuesday over the Ravens. Xiadani Ruiz scored the game’s lone goal and Andrea Strauss recorded the shutout for Avondale (13-5-0, 6-4-0).

ROCHESTER ADAMS 1, BIRMINGHAM MARIAN 1: Perhaps Marian w should be an honorary member of the OAA Red Division for girls soccer, as the Mustangs, ranked No. 1 in Division 2, have scheduled several games against members of that power league this season. Allie Brodsky scored for Marian Tuesday in this non-league game in Rochester Hills, while MacKenzie Barber netted the goal for Adams (13-3-2, No.7 Division 1). Marian moved to 14-2-3 overall and will face two more OAA-Red schools in the next week, Rochester on Thursday and Auburn Hills Avondale next week in a state tournament opener.
