BOYS SOCCER ROUNDUP: Athens cruises over Clarkston; Avondale avenges Berkley

TROY — Troy Athens built a 3-1 lead by the half and tacked on another score in the second half Thursday to claim a 4-1 OAA Red Division boys soccer victory over Clarkston.

Max Klitzke scored the second and third goals for Athens (5-3-1, 3-1-0). Matt Dombrowski and Sunny Shettigar also scored for the Red Hawks. Alex Serwatka drew two assists, both Shettigar and Sandy Mouch also had single assists and Sam Ward picked up the win on four saves for Athens.

Jimmy Todd scored for Clarkston (9-5, 2-2). .

AUBURN HILLS AVONDALE 4, BERKLEY 0: Avondale avenged a 3-0 shutout defeat by Berkley by blanking the Bears this time around in OAA White Division play. Danny Swanson and Joe Davison both had two goals and one assist each for Avondale (7-3-1, 5-3-1).

ROCHESTER STONEY CREEK 1, LAKE ORION 0: Nick Marn scored the game’s only goal to lead the Cougars to this OAA Red Division triumph. Sam Shafer picked up the assists and Griffin Wright made six saves for the shutout for Stoney Creek (7-4-3, 1-2-1).
