THURSDAY’S GIRLS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Avondale blasts Stevenson; Lutheran Northwest bombards Clarenceville
AUBURN HILLS — Auburn hills Avondale used a 14-2 game-opening to thrust it into a 60-35 non-league girls basketball rout of visiting Sterling Heights Stevenson Thursday.
The Yellowjackets added a 17-10 second quarter to give them a 31-12 lead at the half. Avondale outscored the Titans 29-23 in the second half.
Hannah Little scored a game-high 22 points to pace Avondale (1-1). Sabrina Douglas added nine points and Carolyn Gracie scored eight for the Yellowjackets.
Shannon Kpicki scored 13 for Stevenson (0-3).
ROCHESTER HILLS LUTHERAN NORTHWEST 53, LIVONIA CLARENCEVILLE 29: Northwest broke open a tight game in the second quarter with a 17-7 run and badded a 20-8 surge in thethird quarter in recording this lopsided non-league win over the Trojans. Kim Lepor aqnd Abbey Looker combined for eight 3-pointers in the game, with Lepor scoring a game-high 22 points and Looker adding 12 points for the Crusaders (3-1).Kim Buckley scored 11 for Clarenceville (1-2).
TROY 57, ROSEVILLE 26: Troy remained perfect on the year with its second route in three days, racing out to a 20-3 lead after the first quarter and never looking back. The colts led 33-14 at the half and 46-19 after three quarters of play. Katy McCusih and Sabria Cotton both scored 10 to lead Troy, while Karin Moss and Rachel Grecky scored seven each for the Colts (3-0). Aja Williams scored seven for Roseville (0-3).
ROCHESTER STONEY CREEK 51, UTICA 27: Stoney Creek doubled up Utica 30-15 by the half and cruised to the non-league win over the neighboring Chiefs. The Cougars posted a 21-12 edge in the second half. Gabby Yurik scored 16, Natalie Voss twined 14 and Lauren Bolhuis added 12 points for the Cougars, while Keri Scipione chipped in nine points for Stoney Creek (4-0). Jenna Seib scored 15 for Utica.
