FRIDAY’S GIRLS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Holly pulls away from rival Brandon; Lake Orion bounces past Notre Dame Prep
ORTONVILLE — Holly outscored Ortonville Brandon in three of four quarters Friday to upend its rivals to the east, 40-27, in a Flint Metro League girls basketball game.
Holly led 12-6 after the first quarter and 20-13 at the half. Both teams scored 11 in the third quarter, while Holly closed out with a 9-4 run.
Allyssa Copley scored a game-high 23 points to pace Holly. Lauren Maher added 10 points for the Bronchos (3-0, 1-0).
Katelyn Hendershot scored 11 for Brandon (0-4, 0-1).
LAKE ORION 45, PONTIAC NOTRE DAME PREP 32: Lake Orion rebounded from back-to-back road losses with this home win Friday over the Fighting Irish. The Dragons led 23-13 at the half and 36-22 after three quarters. Marisa Secontine scored 19 and Laura Turnball added eight points for the Dragons (2-2). Kyaya Bowman was 9-for-9 from the foul line and scored 19 for Notre Dame Prep, while Alexa Cannon followed with seven points.
