GIRLS BASKETBALL: Bishop Foley holds off Adams

MADISON HEIGHTS — Behind a 24-21 second half, Madison Heights Bishop Foley was able to hold off Rochester Adams in a girls basketball game Thursday, 45-43.

The Ventures trailed 22-21 at the half and used a 15-10 run in the third quarter to take control at

Colleen Szakacs scored 15 for unbeaten Bishop Foley (6-0), which had only three turnovers in the contest. Jackie Bieniewicz added 13 points and Emma Wonsil scored 11 for the Ventures.

Taylor Houghtlin scored 13 and Amber Jamison added 12 points with eight rebounds for Adams (4-2). Lauren Boyle also had 12 points, but the Highlanders had a difficult time with Bishop Foley’s pressure defense, turning the ball over 27 times in the contest.

Adams led13-12 after the first quarter but could not equal that output in the final three frames.
