GIRLS SOCCER: Oakland Christian blanks Northwest; Marian edges Avondale; Athens nips Seaholm
AUBURN HILLS — Auburn Hills Oakland Christian scored in the game’s first minute and never looked back Thursday, as the Lancers blanked Rochester Hills Lutheran Northwest 8-0 in a Division 4 district semifinal.
Sophia Bell scored the game’s opening tally and Oakland Christian led 6-0 at the half. Victoria Lucido, Lilly Gould, Annie Gaddard, Maddie Miller and Bell scored the other first-half goals, while Tori Johns and Lucido netted second-half goals.
Tiffany Prantera recorded her first shutout of the season in her first start, making two saves for Oakland Christian.
The Lancers will host top-ranked Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes-Clarkston Everest Collegiate Unified in Saturday’s district finals at 10 a.m.
DIVISION 2
BIRMINGHAM MARIAN 1, AUBURN HILLS AVONDALE 0: Sarah George scored on a direct free kick with 43 seconds left in lifting top-ranked Marian to this one-goal victory Thursday in this Division 2 district semifinal at Farmington. Marian improved to 17-1-1 with the win. Avondale finishes 9-6-4 and honorable mention in the polls.

TROY ATHENS 2, BIRMINGHAM SEAHOLM 1: Hannah Schell scored the game-winner in the 55th minute to lead the Red Hawks into Saturday’s district finals at Bloomfield hills. Ashley Leonard also scored for Athens (7-5-10). Katie Halmhuber scored the Seaholm (9-7-2).
