BOYS LACROSSE: East Grand Rapids ousts Notre Dame Prep in regional finals
HOWELL — Top-ranked East Grand Rapids ended Pontiac Notre Dame Prep’s season Saturday, topping the Irish 15-2 in a Division 2 boys lacrosse regional final at Howell Parker Middle School.
EGR led 4-0 at the end of the first quarter to take control and cruised into halftime with an 8-0 advantage. By the end of the third quarter, EGR was in complete control with a commanding 12-1 lead.
Paulie Schalau led East Grand Rapids (17-1-0) with four goals and three assists. Jake Huffman made nine saves in 11 attempts for EGR.
Mark Thierbacker and Nick Wasik each scored a goal for Notre Dame Prep (13-6-0). Peter Eichorn made seven saves for the Irish.
