GIRLS BASKETBALL: Rochester freezes up Stoney Creek
ROCHESTER HILLS — Rochester’s defense held Rochester Stoney Creek to under 20-percent shooting. The end result was an eye-catching 38-20 OAA crossover victory over the Cougars.
Rochester kept Stoney Creek to single digit scoring in each of the four quarters. The Falcons led 7-2 at the end of the first quarter and 16-6 at the break.
Rochester continued to pull away in the third stanza with a 13-5 run, good for a 29-11 advantage. Both teams traded off nine points in the fourth quarter.
Madeline Williams scored 10 for Rochester. Aubrey Konal added eight points and both Anne Tucker and Zhana Randolph chipped in with seven points each for the Falcons (4-2).
Mari Zandi scored eight and Emma Sobcynski chipped in with six points for Stoney Creek (4-2), which dropped its second straight game.
