TUESDAY’S GIRLS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Clarkston drubs Chippewa Valley; Stoney Creek downs Oxford
CLARKSTON — Behind a scoring edge in all four quarters Tuesday, Clarkston was able to post a 54-35 non-conference girls basketball win over Clinton Township Chippewa Valley.
The Wolves built a33-25 lead by the half and held Chippewa Valley to only 10 second-half points, including just three points in the final quarter.
Freshman center Erin Davenport cane off the bench and had 15 points and six steals to lead Clarkston. Delaney Kenny had 15 points, seven rebounds, five steals and four assists for Clarkston. Megan Hastings scored nine and Christina Jokish added eight points for the Wolves (3-0).
Eric Misch scored 14 for Chippewa Valley (0-1).
ROCHESTER STONEY CREEK 50, OXFORD 38: Stoney Creek built a 27-14 lead at the half and maintained a double-digit lead in the scond half for this OAA crossover win over the wildcats. Gabby Yurik scored 18 and Lauren Voss added eight points for the Cougars (3-0). Jessica Murphy scored 17 and Shelby Davis added nine points for the Wildcats (1-2), who held a 24-23 edge in the second half.
WATERFORD KETTERING 59, LAKE ORION 20: Ari Washington finished with 13 points to lead a balanced attack for host Kettering in this non-league tilt. Allison Bicknell added nine points for the Captains (2-0). Marisa Secontine scored eight points for Lake Orion (1-2).
ROCHESTER HILLS LUTHERAN NORTHWEST 53, ALMONT 30: A 22-4 run to open the game and a 35-13 lead at the half was more than enough to propel the Crusaders to the non-league win. Abbey Looker led three Crusaders in double figures with 13 points. Kim Lepor added 12 points and Kallie Washburn 11 points for Northwest (2-1). Katherine Henig scored six for Almont (0-2).
