GRAND BLANC — As it turned out, Clarkston wasn’t so much of a gracious host at the annual Michigan Stars Softball Tournament after all.

The Wolves, ranked third in Division 1, advanced all the way to the finals of the championship flight Sunday before falling to Plymouth, 5-4.

The tournament featured some 40 schools from around the state.

Clarkston defeated Troy Athens (7-0) in the quarterfinals Sunday morning and Pinconning (5-0) in the semifinals. Both games saw freshman Madeline Maday fire no-hitters to aid the Wolves’ cause. Maday struck out a combined 14 batters in the two wins.
