TUESDAY’S BOYS LACROSSE ROUNDUP: Clarkston clinches OAA-Red title; Troy drubs Royal Oak, Lake Orion rolls

ROCHESTER HILLS — After finishing second a year ago, Clarkston made sure there would be no bridesmaid honors this season.

The Wolves put the finishing touches on their very first OAA Red Division boys lacrosse title Tuesday, rolling over host Rochester Stoney Creek, 17-4.

The Wolves (10-2-0, 7-0-0) led 4-2 after the first quarter and 10-2 at the half. Clarkston added to its total with a 5-1 edge in the third quarter and a 2-1 margin in the fourth quarter.

Travis Craft scored six goals with two assists in the rout. Jordan Kincaid added five assists, both Kyle O’Grady and Mike Vanderweel scored two goals apiece and both Kevin Horton and AJ Kowal also scored for the Wolves.

Kevin O’Grady led Clarkston with five assists, while Reid Kaminski had two assists and Jordan Kincaid and Horton one assist apiece. With his five goals and one assist, Kincaid hit the 100 career points mark, giving him a new career scoring mark of 104 goals.

Stoney Creek slipped to 4-11-0 with the loss, 1-5-0 in league play.

TROY 13, ROYAL OAK 8: Troy overcame an early 2-1 deficit to throttle Royal Oak in this OAA Red Division contest Tuesday.

Troy outscored royal Oak 5-3 in the second period for a 6-5 halftime lead, then outscored the Ravens 7-3 in the second half.

Nick Kondoleon scored seven goals to lead the Colts. Colin McLean and Oliver Jiang added two goals each, while Jay Darish and Justice Bigelow scored single goals for Troy, which scored two goals in a 17-second span of the second half to help pull away. .

LAKE ORION 14, AUBURN HILLS AVONDALE 0: Brad Bogus had three goals and four assists to lead Lake Orion to the OAA White Division win. Zack Miller had four goals and one assist and Tyler Gattinger scored three goals to aid Lake Orion (10-3-0), off to its best start in the program’s six-year history.
