COLLEGE GOLF: Oakland links up for seventh-place finish at Carter Plantation Intercollegiate

SPRINGFIELD, La. — Michael Coriasso carded a final round score of 76 (+4) in very tough, windy, conditions as the Oakland men’s golf team finished seventh with an overall score of 925 (+61) at the Carter Plantation Intercollegiate on Tuesday at Carter Plantation Golf Course (Par 72, 7,104 yards). Only four players in the field shot par or better this afternoon.

“It was the most difficult round due to the 20-plus mph winds and pin locations,” said OU coach Russ Cunningham.

Coriasso was the top finisher for the Golden Grizzlies, ending the tournament in a tie for 18th place with an overall score of 227 (+11). Cameron Nelson shot a final round 76 to post a score of 232 (+16) and finish in a tie for 28th place.

Central Arkansas recorded a final round 302 (+14) to capture the team title with an overall score of 879 (+15), four shots clear of host Southeastern Louisiana (883/+19). The Lions’ Philipp Westermann shot a final round of 1-under-par 71 to claim medalist honors at 7-under-par 209, three shots in front of Arkansas Little Rock’s Alfred Kerstis (212/-4).
